What to see in Palma di Montechiaro? Here you will find a beautiful Baroque church from the late 1600s, preceded by a wide staircase that gives it elegance and majesty . It is the Mother Church and is located in a very particular context, with this stone staircase, the ancient houses, a beautiful square, the view of the sea and the seventeenth-century Palazzo Ducale where the story of the book Il Gattopardo was set . The latter is open from Monday to Friday, from 9:00 to 13:30 and admission is free. The rooms inside are bare, but the ceilings with wooden decorations are beautiful.

Tip from Topsecretsicily: If you wish, you can book a guided tour of Palma di Montechiaro, including tasting of typical almond cookies, local honey and traditional peasant lunch at a beautiful estate.

Not far away is the Benedictine monastery, also built around 1600 . These are the main attractions of the country, few but still worthy of a quick visit.

Outside the town, about 20 minutes by car, there is probably the most beautiful and fascinating monument, the castle of Montechiaro . The beauty of this 700-year-old monument, the surrounding nature, the wonderful view of the sea and the small gulf really take your breath away . The castle can be visited externally every day, while to visit its interior you have to go on Sunday between 9:00 and 12:30 (opening hours and days may change).
