The Villa del Tellaro is located between Noto and Marzamemi<\/a>, very close to the Vendicari reserve<\/a> and was discovered in the 70s in the foundations of a 19th century farmhouse. It dates back to the 4th century AD and belonged to a wealthy Roman landowner family<\/strong> .<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The villa of Tellaro is small, certainly not comparable to the Roman villa of Casale in Piazza Armerina<\/a>, but its mosaics are very precious and have vivid colors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The mosaics narrate some scenes from the Iliad and hunting, reminiscent of those in Piazza Armerina even with more stylized images. Admission is free<\/strong> and everything is well maintained and cared for, so one more reason to go if you are nearby. Just think that it took 30 years to open it to the public, you should go there just for this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
